II Caspian Water Innovation Forum organized by the Company Aqualink, with support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and participation of the world's leading water experts and ecologists is being held in Baku.

Vugar Karimov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, who opened the event with an introductory speech, said that in recent years, purposeful measures have been taken in the field of solving water problems in Azerbaijan. He noted that the solution of water problems in the republic has been identified as a priority issue, serious efforts have been made in this area and the strategic program is being successfully implemented.

Karimov emphasized that the territory of Azerbaijan has limited water resources. On the other hand, as a result of the increase in population, the development of the country's economy, including agriculture, the expansion of arable land, and the decrease in river water due to climate changes, urgent measures are being taken to ensure the water security of the republic. In this regard, the State Water Commission was established in 2020 for the purpose of coordinating the activities of institutions operating in the field of water in our country, efficient management of water resources and ensuring the country's water security, and the plan of measures for ensuring the efficient use of water resources was approved.

Seymur Seyidov, Deputy Chairman of "Azersu" OJSC, pointed out that the threats of water shortage on a global scale against the backdrop of the recent increase in the demand for fresh water made inevitable the expansion of international cooperation in this field. According to him, providing consumers with uninterrupted and high-quality water that meets ecological standards is a major component of the implemented socio-economic development strategy.

The forum continued with panel sessions.
