Cases of illegal drinking water supply were detected in Sumgait city

In accordance with the Action Plan for ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan has strengthened complex measures to detect illegal drinking water lines, minimize water losses and prevent wastage. For this purpose, cases of illegal water supply were detected as a result of control measures conducted in Sumgait city.

The fact of water theft was discovered in restaurant Las Vegas located on Baku-Guba road. The owner of the facility illegally used water with a 32 mm diameter pipe laid in the restaurant without obtaining technical conditions and signing a contract.

In addition to commercial facilities, cases of illegal use of water in private residences were also detected during control measures. People who are engaged in the construction of individual residential houses in the area called Khazar Gardens supplied the apartments with drinking water by making illegal connections to the nearby water network.

To prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against individuals and legal entities who commit these acts.

It should be noted that within the months of January-April 2023, 4817 cases were detected, and 72 cases were detected in the city of Sumgait, and more than 50 cases were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
