Cases of illegal water supply were detected in a number of facilities in Garadagh distrcit

Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency continues control measures against illegal and wasteful use of drinking water. During the control measures carried out in Garadagh district to detect illegal lines of water supply, minimize water losses and prevent wastage, an unfinished multi-apartment residence located on Aliyar Gulbabayev Street, Sahil settlement cases of illegal water supply were found in the buildingç in accordance with the Action Plan on ensuring the efficient use of water resources approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Although subscriber codes had been provided and meters were installed in the apartments in the commissioned part of the building, residents living in the unfinished part use water illegally. Some residents even collected money from the tenants by installing meters on the pipes.

Illegal connections detected during control measures were canceled. It has been brought to the facility and apartment owners’ attention that illegal and off-meter use of drinking water causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, and deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas. To prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against those who commit these acts.

It should be noted that in January-April 2023, a total of 4,805 cases of illegal water supply were detected, and 39 cases were detected in Garadagh district, and more than 50 cases were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
