Cases of illegal drinking water supply prevented in Khazar district

Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency continues measures against illegal and wasteful use of drinking water. As a result of control measures carried out in Khazar district, water supply to commercial facilities and private houses that use water illegally has been stopped.

In accordance with the Action Plan on ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, cases of unaccounted and off-meter water supply were discovered as a result of investigations conducted in Khazar district to detect illegal drinking water supply, minimize water losses and prevent wastage.

Illegal connections detected during control measures were canceled. It has been brought to the attention of facility and apartment owners that illegal and off-meter drinking water supply causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, and deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas. In order to prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against individuals and legal entities who commit these acts. It should be noted that according to the operative data of January-April 2023, a total of 4,817 cases were detected and 555 cases were detected in Khazar district and more than 50 cases were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
