Cases of illegal water supply were detected in a number of facilities in Sabunchu district

Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency has strengthened measures against illegal and wasteful drinking water supply. As a result of investigations conducted to detect illegal drinking water supply, minimize water losses and prevent wastage, cases of unaccounted and off-meter use of water were discovered, in accordance with the Action Plan on ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

During the control measures implemented, it was discovered a tailor shop, barber’s, butcher’s, car washing facility and phone sales point operating in Zabrat district, the sale of decorative trees and cafes located on the Mashtaga-Zabrat road, private houses built by middlemen in the Savalan residential area were illegally supplied with water.

Illegal lines detected during control measures were canceled. It has been brought to the attention of facility and apartment owners that illegal and off-meter use of drinking water causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses and deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas.

It should be noted that according to the data for January-April 2023, a total of 4,817 cases were detected and 1,365 cases were detected in Sabunchu district and more than 50 cases were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
