Illegal use of water was prevented in Absheron district

As a result of investigations conducted to prevent water losses and wastage in accordance with the Actions Plan on ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, cases of unaccounted and off-meter use of drinking water were discovered in Absheron district.

During the investigations, it was discovered that drinking water was illegally used in an apartment building in Masazır settlement. It turned out that the owner of the facility interfered with the water line passing nearby and laid a water line to the building with a 20 mm diameter pipe. Illegal use of drinking water was also prevented in another apartment in the settlement. In accordance with the requirements of the legislation, an act was drawn up and those lines were canceled, building owners were informed about the legal use of water.

Illegal use of drinking water was detected in a farm operating in the settlement area. Although the farm has a meter and a contract, an off-meter line was used. In a private house near the farm, it was discovered that water is being used through an illegally constructed line.

Illegal lines and connections drawn to facilities and private houses have been canceled. Enlightening activities with facility owners and citizens regarding the legal connection to the water network were carried out. It was brought to their attention that the illegal and wasteful use of drinking water leads to the violation of hydraulic regimes in the networks, serious water losses and deterioration of the water supply of other residents living in those areas. In order to prevent such illegal situations, control measures will be continued regularly, illegal and off-meter lines will be canceled and those who repeat such situations will be addressed to the law enforcement agencies.

It should be noted that in 2022, 762 facts related to the illegal use of drinking water were discovered in Absheron region. In those cases, consumption in the amount of 193 thousand cubic meters was restored.
