Illegal constructions on main water pipelines create serious problems for the elimination of accidents

An accident occurred in the 160 mm diameter pressurized transmission main passing through the territory of the 1st mine, 30th building, Binagadi settlement, Baku city. The water leak appeared under the private house No. 170, which was illegally built in the protection zone of the main water pipeline. As a result of the accident, the basements and yards of several private houses in the area were also flooded.

Immediately after receiving the information about the accident, the employees of "Azersu" OJSC, the district executive authority and the municipality inspected the accident site. It turned out that the accident happened in the lower part of the bedroom of that apartment house, which made it impossible for the equipment to work there. The owner of the apartment removed the floor of the house and determined the location of the accident. The water flow was temporarily prevented by the emergency brigade of "Azersu" OJSC. At present, work is being continued to completely eliminate the accident.

It should be noted that non-observance of construction rules during the construction of individual residential houses and facilities, carrying out constructions in the protection zone of main and distribution water lines and in some cases even on them, creates serious difficulties in eliminating the accidents that have occurred. Since it is impossible to carry out excavation works with technical means, repair and restoration work is carried out in extremely difficult conditions and take much time. According to the safety regulations, the protection zone of the belt must be completely emptied and conditions must be created for the free movement of the equipment in order to carry out repair and restoration works. In most cases, the owners of apartments and objects do not agree with this, as a result of which it takes a long time to complete the repair work.

In the past,  Illegally built individual residential houses and objects in the territory of Malikaslanov street of Bilajari settlement, Binagadi road 3rd  backstreet, Ahmadli village of Khatai district, Azer Manafov, Chobanzade streets of Nizami district, etc. on communication lines have created difficulties for the elimination of accidents that occurred in transmission mains and sewage collectors.

"Azersu" OJSC once again brings to the attention of citizens and entrepreneurs that the construction of private houses and facilities in the protection zone of main water lines, reservoirs, sewage collectors is prohibited. The high pressure in the main pipeline creates serious dangers not only for buildings, but also for people's lives during an accident.

Citizens and entrepreneurs, should unambiguously obtain a relevant opinion from "Azersu" OJSC buying land for private residence and facility to clarify the presence of communication systems in that area.
