A meeting with the delegation of the Israel National Water Company - Mekorot, which is visiting Azerbaijan was held at “Azersu” OJSC.

Welcoming the guests, Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Etibar Mammadov touched upon the relations between Azerbaijan and Israel and talked about inter-agency relations. Delivering the information about the projects implemented in the country in the field of drinking water supply and wastewater, the Deputy Chairman said that close cooperation is established with international financial organizations and companies in the implementation of projects for the reconstruction of drinking water and wastewater systems. Reminding that Israeli companies have extensive experience in the application of innovative technologies in the water sector, Mammadov said that “Azersu” specialists participated in exhibitions and conferences held in this country and cooperated with various companies in the field of water technology.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mekorot Yitzhak Aharonovich said that his company has extensive experience in the field of effective water management. The guest noted that the issue of efficient use of water is becoming more relevant at a time when the negative effects of global climate change on water resources are observed and the application of advanced technologies in this area is important.

The meeting included presentations and discussions on the use of smart technologies in the field of drinking water, desalination of sea water, water loss management and other issues. The parties expressed confidence that a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between “Azersu” OJSC and Mekorot.
