In accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, measures are being taken to prevent water losses and waste. As a result of research conducted to identify and eliminate cases of illegal use of drinking water, unregistered and off-meter water use in Baku and the regions were revealed.

In March 2022, 802 facts of illegal use of drinking water were revealed. 704 of the revealed facts were registered in Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron districts and 98 in the regions. According to these facts, 223,000 cubic meters of consumption was restored.

In general, 2093 facts of illegal use of drinking water were revealed by “Azersu” OJSC in the first quarter of this year. In the past period, 1902 cases of illegal use of water were registered in Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron districts, and 191 in the regions. In this regard, 566,000 cubic meters of consumption was restored. In January-March this year, about 60 facts of illegal use of water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.

The highest number of unregistered and unmetered drinking water use cases was registered in Binagadi, Sabunchu and Khazar districts of the Absheron Peninsula and in the cities of Shirvan, Tovuz and Imishli in the regions.

“Azersu” OJSC informs citizens and subscribers that global climate change has led to a decrease in the country's freshwater resources and in such circumstances, wasteful use of water is unacceptable. Along with the efficient use of drinking water, serious measures are taken against unregistered and off-meter use.

“Azersu” OJSC once again urges citizens and entrepreneurs to refrain from such actions and states that measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the lines drawn will be abolished and law enforcement agencies will be contacted about the perpetrators of such violations.
