Event on "The role of youth in water management"

An event on "The role of youth in water resources management" was held at the Yasamal district Branch of the New Azerbaijan Party. Bakhtiyar Nabiyev, chairman of the Yasamal district Branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, appreciated the event held on the first Tuesday of Novruz, symbolized with water and called “su chershenbesi” .

Vice-rector of Baku State University, Doctor on Geographic , Professor Farda Imanov reminded that water resources are declining globally due to various factors. He noted that the demand for water is growing as a result of population growth, agricultural development and expansion of arable lands. In addition, reduced rainfall and pollution of water basins increase the risk of water shortages. Imanov noted that fresh water resources in the country are limited and distributed unevenly. 67% of Azerbaijan's surface water resources are formed outside the country and enter the country in a polluted state. The forecasts of international organizations on the world's water resources are also unsatisfactory. To avoid the problem of serious water shortages in the future, fresh water resources must be protected, water must be used sparingly and efficiently, and water losses must not be allowed.

Leading engineer of “Azersu” OJSC, chairman of the first territorial party organization of the New Azerbaijan Party Gunay Mammadli said that the purpose of the event is to increase the knowledge of young people in the field of water resources, their efficient use and water management. Mammadli delivered the information about large-scale projects implemented in our country on the President Ilham Aliyev’s initiative to improve the supply of drinking water to the population.

After the demonstration of videos on water resources, efficient and economical use of water, the activities of young people in this field, the event continued with performances of musicians.
