Measures to prevent water losses and waste are being taken in accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC to detect and eliminate illegal use of drinking water, cases of unregistered and off-meter drinking water use were revealed in Binagadi and Nizami districts.

As soon as the information about the illegal use of drinking water was received by a catering facility carrying out activity on Ruslan Allahverdiyev Street in Sulutepe settlement, the water supply system of the facility was inspected. It turned out that the owner of the bakery and confectionery shops operating here, as well as the building where the training course is located, illegally joined the nearby water line.

Illegal use of water was also revealed in the newly built private houses in Sulutepe settlement. It turned out that the citizens made illegal connections to the nearby network lines with pipes of different diameters.

Necessary measures had been taken on each revealed fact, unauthorized lines and connections were eliminated and damage caused by illegal use was calculated in accordance with the requirements of the Rules of Water Use.

In the facility located on the first floor of the building on Nasimi Street 32 , Nizami district, network water was illegally sold under the name "Mono water". After the fact was discovered, the water supply of the facility was suspended and measures were taken in accordance with the law.

Illegal connections to drinking water networks lead to the violation of hydraulic regimes in the water supply system and the deterioration of water supply to subscribers, increasing water losses. “Azersu” OJSC once again urges citizens and entrepreneurs to refrain from such actions and states that measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the lines drawn will be abolished, and law enforcement agencies will be informed about the perpetrators of such violations.

It should be noted that in January 2022, 505 facts of illegal use of drinking water were revealed by “Azersu” OJSC, of which only 181 were in Binagadi district. According to these cases, consumption was restored in the amount of 124,000 cubic meters and 43,000 cubic meters, respectively. In January this year, 9 facts of illegal use of water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
