Water supply and sanitation system of Ganja under reconstruction

In the frame of “Open Communal Infrastructure Program II” inauguration ceremony took place on September 8 on the occasion with the starting works according to the project of reconstruction of water supply and sewerage system in Ganja. Ganja city head of Executive Committee Elmar Valiyev thanked to the President Ilham Aliyev for attention and care to Ganja. He also noted that demand of population for water will be met as a result of works done.
        Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Seymur Seyidov stated that totally 1419 l drinking water including 200 l/s from Goygol, 78 l/s from Gizilgaya bed of Ganja River, 1141 l/s from Shamkir reservoir will be transmitted to Ganja. In the first level of the project rehabilitation of water intake facilities, construction of Goygol-Ganja transmission main and building of new reservoir (V=4000 m3) will be carried out. In the second level rehabilitation of Gizilgaya water intake facility and construction of reservoir, in the third level reconstruction of the rest of water supply system and entirely sewerage system will be realized. Construction works stemming the first level will be undertaken by successful bidder Haselsan Inshaat from Turkey.
         Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sabina Shaban, German Economic Cooperation Ministry Representative for the Caucasus Kluivert Silca, Manager of German KFW Bank David Bertoloza took place in the inauguration ceremony. They talked about works done in the direction of reconstruction of sewerage system and drew to the attention works done with the purpose of summing of this huge project by the intended period.
    It should be noted that a Loan Agreement was signed on September 25, 2006 between the Governments of Azerbaijan and German KFW Bank on “Open Communal Infrastructure Program II”.
