The first phase of “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems of Gusar

   The first phase of “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems of Gusar" has been completed in the frame of “Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage Project” funded by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency .

   In the first phase a drainage water intake plant with capacity of 85 l/s or 7344 cubic meters a day has been constructed in the river-bed of Gusarchay. A transmission main of 21 km has been laid from the water source until the city using DN 355mm and DN 225mm water pipes. 3 water reservoirs with the capacity of 1000 cubic meters each have been constructed in order to supply the city with drinking water by gravity. At the same time a feeder water line of 2,8km and chlorination building including chlorination plant have been constructed.

   At present work on the second phase is continued. In this phase water supply and sewerage networks will be constructed in a centralized manner. So far a section of 10km of water network of 106,5km and a section of 51km of sewerage network of 102km has been laid. More over 400 house connection have been carried out. Totally more than 6100 customers will join the network and every house will be supplied with pre-paid smart-card water meters.

   In the frame of the project Gusar city, Balagusar, Hasangala, Kohna Khudat, Chilegir, Yuhari Leyer, Gayakend and Khuray villages of Gusar, as well as Chartepe, Orta Khuch, Ashagi Khuch villages of Guba will be supplied with drinking water.

   Wastewater of Gusar city will be discharged to Wastewater Treatment Plant with capacity of 10 thousand cubic meters that will be constructed in Khachmaz district.

   Note that 31,5 thousand people in 10 villages of Gusar district, as well as Gusar city will be supplied with drinking water as result of this project taking account perspective development as of 2030.
