Reconstruction of drinking water and sewerage systems in Beylegan city is successfully continued

   Work on reconstruction of drinking water and sewerage systems in Beylegan city is successfully continued in the frame of “Water Supply and Sanitation Investment Program” financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

   In accordance with ““Reconstruction of water supply and sewerage system of Beylegan project” water supply and sewerage networks of the district to be reconstructed, Ashigli, Shafag and Alinazarli villages located near the city will be supplied with drinking water. The project is designed for improvement of water supply of more over 20 000 people in Beylegan city taking into account perspective development as of 2035, as well as construction of new sewerage system in the center of the district.

   A large part of the project launched in October 2012 has been implemented. Thus 5Nos subartesian wells were drilled near Alinazarli village and a transmission main of 8,6km was laid in order to supply Beylegan city with drinking water. Construction of 2reservoirs with the productivity of 500 cubic meters each, chlorination building and pumping station is continued.

   With the purpose of supplying population with high-quality water on “24 hours a day” basis section of 75km of distributional lines of 91km has been laid, 4200 house connections carried out. At the next phase all customers will be provided with pre-paid smart-card meters. At the same time 285 fire-hydrants installed in accordance with the project.

   Section of 72km of sewerage line of 89km has been laid, nearly 2000 inspection hole constructed. Construction of water and sewerage networks will be completed by the end of this year.

   The next phase of the project envisaged the construction of reservoir with a displacement of 1,000 cubic meters and a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity 5,500 cubic meters per day will be constructed.

   Note that water supply and sewerage systems in Beylegan were created in 1980. Presently 30 per cent of the population is supplied with drinking water in a centralized manner. Once new project is completed population of the city, and 3 villages, as well as IDP settled in these areas will be supplied with high-quality water on “24 hours a day” basis.
