June 5 is celebrated as professional holiday of water industry workers

  The 5th of June is celebrated as professional holiday of melioration and water industry workers following Order dated 14 May, 2014 of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. On this occasion melioration and water industry staff visited the tomb of great leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva in Alley of Honors.

   Then melioration and water industry staff visited the Alley of Martyrs and laid a wreath in front of the Eternal Flame.

    An event dedicated to the professional day of water industry and melioration workers and 10th anniversary of establishment of “Azersu” OJSC was held. Firstly a film reflecting water industry history and the action of “Azersu” OJSC`s action demonstrated.

    Participating at the ceremony chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov stated that establishment of professional holiday of water industry and melioration workers is an example of attention and price of Head of state to water industry workers. Recalling the history of water industry chairman of “Azersu” OJSC emphasized that during this period thousands of workers have been trained in this sector.

    Major projects aimed to improve the water supply and sewerage systems are related with the name of great leader Heydar Aliyev.

   The history of drinking water and sewerage sector is connected with activity of “Azersu” OJSC since 2004. “Azersu” OJSC was established on the base of its predecessor, former Absheron Regional Joint Water Company, by Decree No 252 of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 11, 2004: “Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline, the largest infrastructure project of independent Azerbaijan, is the biggest event of the last 10 years. Jeyranbatan ultra-filtration water treatment plant and Jeyranbatan-Pirallahi transmission main has been constructed in order to improve drinking water supply in Baku and surrounding settlements. With the purpose of supplying the regions with drinking water Kulullu and Shirvan-Mugan integrated water pipeline projects and reconstruction projects of drinking water and sewerage systems in towns/ centers of districts have been carried out. Thus 55% population in the regions, 78% population in Baku have been supplied with drinking water on”24 hours a day” basis.”

    It was noted that 19 employees of “Azersu OJSC have been awarded with honorary titles and medals following Order dated 4 June 2014 of President Ilham Aliyev for their merits in water industry sector. 3 of them awarded “Honorary Engineer”, the rest awarded with the title “Tereggi”. At the same time 105 employees awarded Honorary Diplomas.

    At the end of the event “Azersu” OJSC staff adopted an appeal to President Ilham Aliyev.
