New water and sewerage infrastructures will be constructed in Astara

  “Azersu” OJSC announced a bid on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage infrastructures in Astara under “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project in 6 regions” project financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

   In accordance with the “Reconstruction of drinking water supply and sanitation in Astara city” project Khanbulanchay has been chosen as water source. With this purpose a transmission main of 24,8km will be laid from the source to Astara city. 2reservoirs with capacity of 10 thousand cubic meters will be built. A distributional water network of 112,8 km will be laid and 5119 house connections will be carried out. Every subscriber will be supplied with water meter.

   Under the project sewerage system will be constructed in Astara for the first time. For managing wastewater a sewerage network of 70,5km, microtunnel sewerage collector of 8km will be laid, 4565Nos sewerage wells, and 2 pumping stations will be constructed.

   The work will be launched in the third quarter of 2014. After implementation of the project drinking water supply and sanitation systems of totally102 thousand people in 27 villages will be improved.

   Note that “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project in 6 regions” project also includes reconstruction of drinking water supply and sanitation systems in Astara, Dashkesen, Gazakh, Samukh and Terter.
