Nizami district in Baku has been supplied with drinking water on “24 hours a day” basis.

   One more district in Baku has been supplied on a continuing basis with drinking water in the frame of Action plan carried out by “Azersu” OJSC under improvement of drinking water and sewerage services of population. Nizami district of Baku has been supplied with drinking water on “24 hours a day” basis since November of this year.

   As a result of work done 46 thousand customers of 51490 or 90 percent population in Nizami district are supplied on a continuing basis with drinking water. Currently Elshen Suleymanov, Bahruz Nuriyev, and Sharifli streets, as well as some parts of Keshle settlement get water on a schedule. After completion of reconstruction work these areas also will be supplied on a continuing basis with drinking water.

   Under the measures the activity of 36 pumping stations was suspended.

   At the same time the water network of multi-storey dwelling building is reconstructed. In the frame of the project unusable water pipes in the basements are removed and laid through the yards of the buildings using polyethylene pipelines and valves are installed. Every customer is provided with pre-paid smart-card water meters. Reconstruction work has already been completed in 42 buildings. 2182 customers have been supplied with smart-card water meters.

   Note that improvement of water supply systems in Nizami is related to reconstruction work carried out in reservoirs, transmission mains, and distributional lines.
