Water supply system in Ujar under improvement

    "Azersu" OJSC continues Action plans on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in the regions following “State Program on Socioeconomic Development in the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2009-2013”. According to the project funded at the expense of state budget a part of reconstructio work on water supply and sewerage systems has been completed in Ujar.

   The project is calculated for improvement of water supply and sewerage systems of 57 thousand people in Ujar taking into account the population growth as of 2035. Note that the project covers Ujar city, as well as 15 villages of Ujar district.

   In accordance with the “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems compound of Ujar” that commenced in October, 2011, Kulullu was selected as water source in order to supply Ujar city with drinking water. With this purpose 2Nos reservoirs with the capacity of 3750m3 were constructed, DN500mm transmission main of 57km was laid from here till the city center using polyethylene pipes. The transmission main supplies 15 villages with drinking water by gravity. At present 2Nos reservoirs with the capacity of 1500m3 are constructed in the center of the Ujar city with the purpose of supplying the city on a continuing basis with drinking water. Once Kulullu-Ujar transmission main was put into operation the water problems of the people have been solved.

    According to the project 93 km section of the distribution lines of 107km has been laid, 3 thousand house connections were carried out. 1700 of 5170 people have been provided with pre-paid smart-card water meters.

    In accordance with the project a sewerage network of 88km will be laid. 20km section of this line has already been laid.
