Blood donation campaign was held in Azersu OJSC

  Large-scale blood campaigns are organized in  the frame of State Program on ‘Take care of children suffering from Hemophilia and Thalassemia' confirmed  by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev.

  On the eve of United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities, blood donation campaign was organized in Azersu OJSC on December 3. With this purpose a list of those who wants to donate blood was prepared and relevant condition was created for medical staff.

   The campaign was held with the participation of the mobile working group of the Central Blood Bank of the Scientific – Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. Before giving blood, each donor’s blood type is determined and tested for hemoglobin levels. Furthermore, the blood of every donor is tested for infections that are transmitted by blood. The people who are eligible for donating blood were identified.

   The staff of the Scientific – Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion said that the blood samples collected during the campaign will be used will be used in the treatment of patients with thalassemia and other inherited blood after thorough examination.
