Azersu OJSC carries out Action plans under protection of the environment and environmental situation of the Caspian Sea. New technologies are used in neutralization of wastewater collacted  in Baku. In Hovsan Aeration Station, the largest treatment plan in South Caucasus, introduction of new sludge dewatering technology has been launched.

Note that presently disposal and burial of waste is a great ecological problem. Large mass of  sludge is produced during biological treatment of wastewater. In other words, the sludge produced per day is discharged to 36 sludge fields with the capacity of 17500 m3 each. These fields cover totally 27 hectares.

New sludge dewatering decanters, that is the production of HAUS Company of Turkey, were installed in Hovsan Aeration Station in order to avoid the same problems. The plant with the capacity of 72m3/day dewaters all sludge produced per day in Hovsan Aeration Station. There are 2Nos limestone tanks with the capacity of 60m3 in the area of Hovsan Aeration Station. Sewage sludge is disposal with limestone. After introduction of new technology the amount of excess sludge is reduced to 150m3.

It should be noted that this technology is widely used in the developed countries of the world.
