President Ilham Aliyev attended opening ceremony of a new administrative building of the central laboratory of “Azersu” OJSC

   President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a new office building of the central laboratory of the “Azersu” y and reviewed the draft of a park to be established on the grounds of the “+110 west” water reservoir.

  The construction of a new office building of the central laboratory of the “Azersu” Open Joint Stock Company was started in 2011 in order to conduct registration of all analyses within a centralized system, create a comprehensive database and carry out analyses from a distance. Located in the Yasamal district of the capital, the new building covers an area of 1,800 square meters and has been constructed in accordance with the highest standards.

  President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the new building of the laboratory.

  The chairman of the “Azersu” Open Joint Stock Company, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, informed the President about the work carried out within the project framework. It was noted that the building consists of drinking water and sewage sections.

  Each of the sections has departments for microbiology, physical and chemical analyses. The laboratory is fitted with equipment manufactured by leading international companies. The equipment enables determination of physical, chemical and bacteriological properties of drinking water.

  It was noted that the most sophisticated laboratory of the region operates the “ICP-MS” equipment, which allows the company to determine highly toxic heavy and other metals, which pose a threat to human health.

  The microbiology analysis room of the laboratory is responsible for detecting dangerous bacteria. The sewage section of the laboratory conducts both physical and chemical analyses. The laboratory is particularly important from the standpoint of public health and environmental protection. The laboratory is expected to analyze water samples from a total of 1,800 addresses, including water sources, water treatment installations, water reservoirs, educational, healthcare and catering facilities, as well as individual consumers.

  The new laboratory has also provided the opportunity for conducting analyses throughout the republic. To do that, two field laboratories and four special vehicles have been purchased for the transportation of water samples. The field laboratories are currently conducting analyses of water samples taken in district centers and villages.

  It was also indicated that the laboratories have suitable conditions to train specialized personnel and provide courses to students of chemistry, biology and ecology.

  Then President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva reviewed the draft of a park to be established on the grounds of the “+110 west” water reservoir. The head of state was informed that the future park would cover an area of 62,000 square meters. Half of this area would be made up of trees, including different trees and ornamental plants. A sports ground fitted with fitness equipment will also be established. There will be an amusement area for kids in the park. The park will have 10 fountains, a parking lot and a modern lighting system. The new park will have the capacity to accommodate 5,000 people.
