Shemkir city is supplied with drinking water from new source

   "Azersu” OJSC continues urgent measures in order to improve water supply of consumers in Baku, as well as in the regions. Large-scale works are carried out in town/rayon centers and villages under “State Program on Socioeconomic Development in the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2009-2013”. Under the project funded by State budget water supply and sanitation systems in Shemkir are reconstructed.

    Work under “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage system of Shamkir” has been started in October 2011. The project is estimated for improvement of water supply and sewerage systems services of 47 thousand users in the city considering population growth as of 2035.

   Shamkir city will be supplied with drinking water by drainage system constructed in bed of Ceyir River. DN480mm transmission main of 7 km from the source till the reservoirs and water lines of 5km that connects the reservoirs were laid and a reservoir with the capacity of 7000 m3 was constructed. Completion work is carried out in newly constructed chlorination and laboratory buildings.

    Section of 64km of distributional lines of 238km has been laid, 1800 house connections were carried out and 735 Nos prepaid smart-card water meters were installed.

   Connection of sewerage network of 203km and sewage collector is being continued. Wastewater will be transmitted to Wastewater Treatment Plant that will be constructed edge of edge of the city.

   Work under the project will be completed in 2014.
