A meeting with the delegation of KfW Bank of Germany was held in “Azersu” OJSC

   Representatives of German KfW Bank led by director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Ms Eva Witt pay an official visit to Azerbaijan. On June 6 a meeting was held with the delegation of the Bank with the purpose of discussions on implementation issues of “Open municipal Infrastructure Program II” funded by the Government of Azerbaijan and KfW Bank.

   Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov informed the guests of reconstruction projects of water supply and sanitation systems, and noted that “Azersu” OJSC is in close cooperation with international financial institutions, as well as with German Development Bank in this field.

   Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Ms Eva Witt highly evaluated this cooperation and stated that KfW Bank will continue to support to reconstruction projects of drinking water supply and sewerage systems in Genje and Sheki.

   At the meeting status of implementation works on reconstruction project of water supply and sanitation systems in Genje and Sheki and funding issues were discussed.

   “Open Municipal Infrastructure Program II” funding by the Government of Azerbaijan and German Development Bank includes reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in Ganja and Sheki. At the first phase rehabilitation of water source, construction of transmission mains and reservoirs in Genje was completed.

   Note that the agreements signed on December 20, 2012 following “Open Municipal Infrastructure Program II” intend to finance the second and third phases of the project that carried out in Ganja and Sheki. With this purpose EUR 43mln of EUR 102mln (EUR 100mln loan, EUR 2mln grant) allocated by German Bank will be directed to reconstruction of water supply systems, EUR 57mln to construction of sewerage systems in Ganja and Sheki. EUR 2mln will be used to management of Ganja and Shaki Sukanal Departments. After completion of the project drinking water supply and sewerage system of 500 000 people will be improved in Genje and Sheki.
