Inauguration ceremony of water supply and sewerage systems was held in Kurdakhany settlement

    “A Total Solution of Water Shortage for Absheron Peninsula:  Establishment of Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kurdakhany settlement in the Absheron Peninsula” project financed by the government of Azerbaijan and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was launched. On May 31 inauguration ceremony of the project was held in Kurdakhany. Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov, ambassador of the Korean Republic to Azerbaijan Choi Suk-In, KOICA representative in Azerbaijan Mrs. Kim Yong Suk, head of Sabunchu region Executive power Adil Veliyev and citizens took place at the ceremony.

   After opening ceremony chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov said that such project are continued in 38 town/rayon centers, as well as more than 350 villages: “We start new project in Kurdakhany settlement. The project that will be carried out with KOICA will help the solution of water problem in the settlement. At the next phase projects will be carried out in order to complete water supply and sewerage systems. After the completion of construction of the main water line Jeyranbatan-Pirallahi all the eastern villages of Baku will be provided with centralized water supply, thus it will be improved the water supply of 1 million people.”

   KOICA representative in Azerbaijan Mrs. Kim Yong Suk informed about the project and remembered that a Grant agreement was signed between government of Azerbaijan and Korea International Cooperation Agent in October 2011: “For the project government of Korea allocated $26,18 mln. The project is designed for improvement of water supply and sanitation systems of 26 250 people taking into account the prospect development of Kurdakhany as of 2035.”

   Ambassador of the Korean Republic to Azerbaijan Choi Suk-In highly evaluated the relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Korea. He also noted that in the future Korean republic will continue to support to implementation of the projects carried out in Azerbaijan.

   Head of Sabunchu region Executive power Adil Veliyev noted that reconstruction of water supply and sewerage infrastructures of the city will play great role in socioeconomic life of the city.

   In accordance with the project in the settlement drinking water line of 89,4km will be laid with polyethylene pipes, 2329 house connections will be realized and every customer will be provided by water meters. 417 Nos fire-hydrants will be installed. At the first phase the settlement will be supplied with drinking water from Jeyranbatan-Mashtaga transmission main. In the future 2Nos reservoirs with the capacity of 4000 m3 each will be constructed near the settlement and will be fed from Jeyranbatan-Mashtaga transmission main.

   In the frame of the project sewerage collector of 3,8km and microtunnel of 1,4km will be constructed. The construction works are intended to be completed by the end of 2014.

   Moreover a sewerage system of 77,3km will be laid at the expense of the government of Azerbaijan. The collected wastewater will be treated in wastewater treatment plant that will be constructed in Pirshagi.
