A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Khojali genocide was held in “Azersu” OJSC

    On February 25 a commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Khojali genocide was held in “Azersu” OJSC. Firstly Khojali martyrs were remembered with a minute of silence.

    Stating at the ceremony deputy chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Mirkamil Seyidov stated that Khojali Massacre being one of the bloodiest pages of the history of Azerbaijan people is the most heinous mass terror event under barbarism and brutality against humanity in the history of humankind. He said that 21 years ago- on the night of 25 to 26 February 1992 Armenian armed forces, reportedly with help of the Russian 366th Motor Rifle Regiment, destroyed Azerbaijani city Khojali and hundreds of helpless, innocent people were murdered by these barbarians. During the military aggression 613 people including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly were killed with special cruelty, 8 families were annihilated, 487 wounded and 1275 were taken hostage. The fate of 150 hostages is still not known.

   Candidate of historical sciences, professor of the Baku State University Atamoglan Mammadli also stated at the ceremony Khojaly genocide was an unprecedented act of mass destruction and the brutality of the state independence, territorial integrity against the criminal against the Azerbaijani people. He also noted that the former head of military counter-intelligence branch of the Trans-Caucasus Vladimir Sovolyov has admitted that during these events cruelty perpetrated against civilians, even women, children and old people were not profound.

    Touching the specific facts the chairman of Water Industry Workers Trade Unions Republican Committee Akif Mammadov said that the heroism of the victims of the genocide is an example for our future.
