The majority of the water and sewerage projects will be completed in 2013

   President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to discuss the results of the country’s socio-economic development in 2012 and outline priorities for 2013. n his opening speech, the Head of State said the year 2012 was a success for Azerbaijan. The President said the country’s Gross Domestic Product grew 2.2 per cent last year, with the non-oil industry seeing an 8 per cent increase, agricultural production rising 6 per cent, the population’s income growing 13.8 per cent, and inflation staying at 1.1 per cent.

 

   President Ilham Aliyev also noted that implementation of infrastructure projects will be continued in 2013 and he highly appreciated the projects on water supply and sewerage systems: “We started water supply and sewerage projects a few years ago. This is a very great project and very important for our country. Because Baku and other regions have always suffered from water problems. There were no sewer lines in the regions as a whole. Sewerage systems in Baku outdated. Great construction works are carried out in this field. Our goal is reconstruct the infrastructure on this field. Presently in Baku, as well as in the regions such projects are carried out. I hope that majority of the drinking water projects will be completed within the end of this year. At the same time laying of sewerage lines are carried out. This also will be historical achievement. Because supplying the population with clear drinking water is a great work.”

 

   The head of the state gave appropriate tasks for high-quality implementation of infrastructure projects in accordance with investment program.
