Central and local reservoirs are washed and disinfected

The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency implements comprehensive measures to improve drinking water supply to consumers and provide them with high-quality and stable drinking water. Washing of central and local reservoirs located in Baku city and Absheron peninsula, as well as in the regions, are continued according to the approved schedule.

One of the main requirements of the AZS 929-2023 standard on drinking water quality control is ensuring the safety of water collected in reservoirs. For this purpose, a plan for flushing water reservoirs is drawn up every year and control inspections are carried out in the reservoirs. In accordance with the approved guidelines, every reservoir facility where drinking water supply is carried out should be washed and disinfected at least once a year. For this purpose, reservoirs are completely emptied, initially, experts check whether there are any leaks or accidents in the warehouse, and if there are any dangerous situations, repair and restoration works are carried out. Unless any defects are found in the operation regulations of the reservoir, they are washed and disinfected by the specialized service teams of the Agency. Specialists of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, which carries out state control of water quality, also participate in the washing of each reservoir.

It should be noted that water samples are regularly taken from the reservoirs and analyzed in the Central Laboratory. If there are any deviations in the water content and if it is not possible to eliminate it, the reservoir is inspected again and washed in an extraordinary manner.
