A meeting held with the delegation of the International Finance Corporation

A meeting with the delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) visiting our country was held at the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency Zaur Mikayilov informed the delegation about the projects implemented in the water infrastructure in our country under the President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership. The chairman of the agency said that some of the reclamation and irrigation, drinking water supply and sewage projects were implemented with the financial support of international financial organizations. Long-term and rich experience in this field creates great prospects for future cooperation. Cooperation with international financial organizations is of particular importance in the implementation of new projects at a time when the efficient use of water resources due to climate changes is relevant.

Ms. Cheryl Edleson Hanway, Regional Industry Director for Infrastructure, Energy and Mining of the International Finance Corporation in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, said that the organization she represents supports the financing of important projects in the field of private sector development and investments in developing countries. Reminding that the public-private partnership platform is one of the priority directions, the guest emphasized that the application of this model is important.

At the meeting, information was provided on IFC's activities in the country and the region, and potential cooperation issues were discussed. It was stated that future cooperation in the water management sector will contribute to mutual relations.
