Illegal drinking water lines were prevented in a number of facilities located in Binagadi district

In accordance with the Action Plan for ensuring the efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan continues control measures to detect illegal drinking water supply, minimize water losses and prevent wastage.

A case of illegal drinking water supply was discovered in a cafe operating on Svetlana Mammadova Street, Binagadi district. The owner of the facility illegally used drinking water and sewage services by connecting to the network. Water theft was detected in the sand market operating in the so called 1st meden area of Binagadi settlement, DSK road. Water was illegally used by laying a line from the water pipeline passing near that area. All illegal lines and connections discovered during control measures were cut and canceled.

The State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan brings to the attention of citizens that illegal and off-meter use of drinking water causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas.

It should be noted that in 2023, 15,533 cases of illegal use of drinking water were detected and prevented by the society, 3071 of them were in Binagadi district. More than 100 facts have been submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
