The implementation of projects for the creation of drinking and waste water systems in the territories liberated from occupation is being intensively continued, in accordance with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev’s instructions. According to the information provided by the Coordination Headquarters established for the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the first stage of the project of creating drinking water supply, sewage and rainwater systems of the city of Fuzuli founded by President Ilham Aliyev on May 5, 2023 is in progress.

The project implemented by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency is designed to meet the needs of 50,000 people in the city of Fuzuli, taking into account the prospective development until 2040. The construction of the city's external water supply systems and central reservoirs is being carried out at the initial stage. Central water reservoirs with a total capacity of 20,000 cubic meters are being built near Zargar village to provide sustainable drinking water to the city of Fuzuli. According to the project, the construction of a 10.7 km transmission main has been completed to ensure the delivery of water from the source in Fuzuli to the city.

In the next stage, 15 sub-artesian wells will be dug near the village of Govshadli in order to provide the city of Fuzuli with sustainable and high-quality drinking water. Due to this source, in addition to the city of Fuzuli, several villages of the region will be provided with drinking water.

Within the framework of the project, 103 km of drinking water, 87 km of waste and 100 km of rainwater networks will be built in the city of Fuzuli. A wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day will be built for the purpose of purifying and neutralizing the waste water that will be generated in the city. The new infrastructure created in the city of Fuzuli will be managed based on the "Smart water" system. Within the framework of the project, each infrastructure element will be provided with a SCADA system.
