The reconstruction of the drinking water supply systems of the city of Shusha is being intensively continued, in accordance with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev’s instructions. According to the information provided by the Coordination Headquarters established for the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, new reservoirs are being built within the first phase of the project in order to provide the city of Shusha with sustainable drinking water.

Taking into account prospective development, 25 thousand people will benefit from the reconstruction project of water supply, sewerage and rainwater systems of Shusha city implemented by Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency. According to the project, the city's drinking water needs will be met by the existing Kichik Kirs, Zarisli sources and the Zarislichay reservoir, which was put into operation in 2022. 3 water reservoirs with a total volume of 6,000 cubic meters have been designed in order to collect and optimally distribute the water taken from these sources, as well as to ensure stability in the city's water supply. The main work on the construction of the first reservoir have already been completed and the entrance-exit lines of the basin have been installed.

According to the project, 24 km of transmission main, 44 km of drinking water, 42 km of waste and 41 km of rain water networks will be created in the city of Shusha. At the same time, a drinking water purifying plant with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters per day will be built. The construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters per day is also planned for the purpose of complete purification and neutralization of waste water generated in the city. The new infrastructure created in the city of Shusha will be managed based on the "Smart water" system. Water abstraction, transport, reservoir levels, hydraulic regimes and other processes will be regulated online through SCADA systems.

It should be noted that the restoration of the city's drinking water supply began shortly after the liberation of the city of Shusha.
