The State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan continues to implement projects to improve the drinking water supply to the population of settlements and villages in the regions. In accordance with the State Program for socio-economic development of regions approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the drinking water supply in Mughan settlement of Hajigabul region is being improved.

The work on the first stage of the project to improve the drinking water supply of Mughan settlement is about to be completed. Within the framework of the project, a new centralized water supply network is being created in the settlement. It should be noted that in the late 1970s drinking water was supplied to Mughan settlement from the Kura-Baku transmission main and a water network was created in a part of the settlement. However, in the past period, the population of the settlement has increased up to 3 times due to the expansion of the development areas. Serious difficulties were observed in water supply, especially in the summer months. Out-of-date networks and primitive water lines built by the population also caused serious water losses. The creation of a new centralized network has allowed new subscribers to be connected to the water supply system, along with the elimination of water supply problems.

The creation of a new drinking water network in other areas of Mughan settlement, with up to 6 thousand residents, will be implemented in the next stages of the project. With this, the residents of the settlement will be provided with stable and high-quality drinking water, water losses will be minimized by establishing accurate accounting and waste will be prevented.
