As a result of control measures carried out in accordance with the "Action Plan to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, illegal use of water was prevented in the city of Sumgayit.

It turned out that the water supply of a pig farm owned by a citizen is carried out through a line that was built arbitrarily. The owner of the farm uses water abundantly without obtaining technical conditions and signing a contract with "Azersu" OJSC. The water supply of 2 facilities located 8th micro-district, Sumgayit and functioning as a cafe is carried out through a line laid arbitrarily. The owners of the facilities were taking water from the basement of the building located nearby.

During the control measures, it was discovered that a number of private houses were illegally connected to the drinking water network. Thus, the people engaged in the construction of individual residential houses built a water line from the nearby water line to several residential houses illegally.

Detected illegal lines and connections are canceled. Owners of private houses and facilities were informed about the legal connection to the water network and were told that the illegal and wasteful use of drinking water leads to the violation of hydraulic regimes in the networks, serious water losses, and deterioration of the water supply of other residents living in those areas. In order to prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled and those who repeat such situations will be addressed to the law enforcement agencies.

It should be noted that 10,525 facts related to the illegal use of drinking water were discovered by "Azersu" OJSC in 2022. In those cases, the consumption of 2 million 724 thousand cubic meters was restored. As a result of the prevention of 526 cases of illegal use detected by Sumgayit Sukanal Office within the last year, 127 thousand cubic meters of consumption was restored. In 2022, 225 facts related to the illegal use of drinking water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
