In connection with the declaration of 2023 as the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in the Republic of Azerbaijan according to the Presidential decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 3494 dated September 29, 2022, it is planned to hold a number of events at "Azersu" OJSC. In order to ensure the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev at a high level, a Commission was established in "Azersu" OJSC and the Event Plan was approved.

In accordance with the Action Plan, it is planned to hold a scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev in 2023, to prepare a film, articles and a special bulletin about the historical services of the Great Leader in the water sector. In connection with the anniversary, a visit of media representatives to the Kura Water Purification Plans Complex, created under the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, will be organized. At the same time, sports competition, blood donation campaign and tree planting actions will be held by "Azersu" OJSC.

In connection with the implementation of the Action Plan, relevant tasks were given to the members of the Commission and the relevant structural units.

It should be noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev made historic contributions to the development of the water sector in Azerbaijan. Creation of the Kura Water Supply Complex and the Kura-Baku water pipelines system, the construction of the 3rd line of the Jeyranbatan water treatment plants complex, the preparation and implementation of the "Big Sewerage" project of Baku, the creation of water supply and sewage systems for the district centers and large settlements of the republic coincide with the period when national leader Heydar Aliyev led the republic in 1969-1982.

After our country gained independence, a new stage in the drinking and waste water sector began with the great leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to power. In 1998-2002, due to the concessional loans allocated to Azerbaijan by the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the "Project of reconstruction of the water supply system of Greater Baku" was carried out.

National leader Heydar Aliyev was the initiator of the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline project, which is of exceptional importance in improving the drinking water supply of Baku city. In December 2002, at a broad consultation on the water supply of Baku city, the national leader Heydar Aliyev said that the time has come to bring high-quality spring water to the capital and for this purpose, he gave instructions on studying the underground waters of Oguz-Gabala zone. The Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline, the foundation of which was laid in March 2007, was commissioned in December 2010 with the President Ilham Aliyev’s participation.
