Restoration of drinking water supply to Lachin city, Sus and Zabukh villages has started

In accordance with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev’s instructions, "Azersu" Open Joint-Stock Company continues to work on the restoration and reconstruction of drinking water supply systems in the territories liberated from occupation, including in the Lachin region. On August 26, to restore the drinking water supply of Lachin city, Sus and Zabukh villages, which were taken under full control by the Azerbaijani army, the engineering and technical staff of the Society, a group consisting of an accident and restoration brigade started work in Lachin city from that date.

According to the information provided by the Coordinating Headquarters established for the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, inspection works were initially carried out in the water source, transmission main and other hydro technical facilities in order to provide stable drinking water for military and civilian objects. It was found out that the sub-artesian wells, pumping station and other hydro technical devices that supply the city of Lachin with drinking water were intentionally disabled and the pumps were dismantled and carried away. At the same time, the transmission main belt was deliberately destroyed at several points and at one point a large tree stump was placed inside the belt.

As a result of the intensive activity of specialists sent to Lachin from Baku, regional sukanal branches 5 and 7, water was brought to the city from springs as an alternative source on August 31. In the city of Lachin, a watering tower has been installed and water supply is carried out by 3 water trucks brought to the area to provide water to personnel performing their official duties, as well as those involved in repair and restoration works.

At present, the engineering and technical staff of "Azersu" OJSC, a group consisting of an accident and restoration brigade, is continuing urgent measures to inspect and restore the drinking water supply systems of the city of Lachin.

It should be reminded that in 2021 and 2022, within the framework of urgent measures, "Azersu" OJSC built 13 km long water lines with pipes of different diameters in the territory of Lachin region and the facilities operating in the area were provided with stable drinking water. At the same time, irrigation towers were installed at 3 points to ensure the transportation of water by vehicles if necessary. In the past, the Kalbajar Sukanal Area provided services to the Lachin region.

It should be noted that branches of "Azersu" OJSC currently operates providing uninterrupted service in Kalbajar and Zangilan districts, Shusha city and Hadrut settlement.
