Complications caused by flood waters in the drinking water supply system in Goranboy are being eliminated

Heavy rains and floods in recent days have seriously damaged the Balligaya water source, which supplies drinking water to the cities of Goranboy and Naftalan, as well as some villages in the Goranboy region. As a result of the flood, wood chips, stones and silt from the Karachay River filled the infiltration area of the water treatment plant with a solid mass and the processing at the plant stopped completely. As a result, water supply to Goranboy, Naftalan and Khojaly canals fed from this source was suspended. At the same time, flood waters have damaged part of the transmission main supplying drinking water to Agjakend settlement.

First Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Teyyub Jabbarov, representatives of Institution “Sutikinti”, Regional Sukanal Office №7 inspected the water source. A working group has been set up to identify and eliminate the damage caused to hydraulic structures as a result of the flood.

Special equipment and machines (3 excavators, 3 dump trucks) brought to the area and repair work has begun at the treatment plant.

Five water vehicles have been mobilized to meet the drinking water needs of Balligaya settlements and residents will be provided with water until the processing will be restored at the source.
