“Azersu” OJSC is taking important measures in connection with the Formula 1 races

Important events are being held by “Azersu” OJSC as a service organization in connection with the next Formula 1 races to be held in Baku on June 10-12, 2022. Necessary work has been done to ensure the sustainability the drinking and waste water systems of the streets and avenues where the competitions will be held, sports and tourism facilities to be used.

To prepare for the event at a high level and to promptly resolve any problems that may arise, a commission was established at “Azersu” OJSC and the Action Plan was approved. At the same time, a headquarters was established to carry out the work in an operational and coordinated manner.

In accordance with the Action Plan, monitoring and evaluation work was carried out to ensure the normal operation of drinking and waste water infrastructure in the competition areas and to promptly eliminate possible accidents. The condition of the valves on the drinking water lines was checked on the streets where competition will be held. All valves and fire hydrants were inspected along the route and preventive measures were taken to keep the existing valves and fire hydrants in working order. Up to 9 km of sewer lines, more than 300 sewer manholes and railings were cleaned by mechanical means and special cleaning machines.

Special brigades have been set up and locations have been identified to promptly eliminate possible accidents on the days of the competitions. Necessary measures are taken to provide the accident brigades with machinery and equipment.

About 80 employees of “Azersu” OJSC's “Baku Sukanal”, Sabail, Yasamal and Nasimi district water supply departments were involved in the trainings. The trainings provided information on emergency response, occupational safety and other issues. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the employees involved in the training also participated in practical exercises.

It should be noted that in connection with the competitions, control over the operation of drinking and waste water systems of sports and tourism facilities has been strengthened. For this purpose, the specialists of “Azersu” OJSC regularly inspect the drinking and waste water systems of the facilities, take measures to eliminate the revealed shortcomings and deficiencies and give recommendations to the business entities.
