Measures to prevent water losses and waste are being taken in accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC, cases of unregistered and off-meter water use were revealed in Binagadi district.

Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in a furniture shop located in the area called “Baksol”. During the investigation, it was found out that the owner of the facility uses water by making an illegal connection to the nearby line. Although the damage caused by the illegal use of water was calculated, but the owner of the facility continued his illegal actions by getting reconnected to the line.

At first glance, everything seems to be in order at the farm located in Binagadi village. However, despite the fact that the entrepreneur has a contract and a meter, it was found that he uses illegal line too.

As part of control measures, illegal use of water was prevented in a butcher’s operating in the so-called "Center" area of Binagadi settlement.

Off-meter water use was revealed in one of the private houses in so called 1st meden, 8th building of Binagadi settlement. It was found out that the subscriber not only laid an illegal off-meter line, but also illegally supplies water to neighboring houses.

Necessary measures have been taken on each revealed fact, unauthorized lines and connections were eliminated and the damage caused by illegal use has been calculated in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on Water Use.

“Azersu” OJSC brings to citizens’ and subscribers’ attention that global climate change has led to a decrease in the country's freshwater resources and in such circumstances, wasteful use of water is unacceptable. Measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the lines drawn arbitrarily will be abolished and law enforcement agencies will be contacted about the perpetrators of such violations.

It should be noted that in the first quarter of 2022, 2093 facts of illegal use of drinking water were revealed by “Azersu” OJSC and 494 of them in Binagadi district. In this regard, consumption was restored in the amount of 566,000 and 120,000 cubic meters, respectively. In January-March this year, 60 facts of illegal use of water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
