Representatives of “Azersu” OJSC attended the 9th World Water Forum and the World Water Council’s Board meeting
The 9th World Water Forum and the 77th Board meeting of the World Water Council were held in Dakar, Senegal on March 20-26, 2022.
President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall and heads of state and government from 7 countries addressed the opening of the 9th World Water Forum on "Water Security for Peace and Development". The forum was attended by leaders of the UN General Assembly, UNESCO, the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the World Water Council, the European Commission, the United Nations Environment Program and more than 30,000 delegates from about 100 countries.
Issues on water resources management, protection, wastewater treatment and reuse, adaptation to global climate change, research and education were discussed within the forum section meetings.
At the exhibitions held within the forum, the Azerbaijani delegation held corporate meetings with representatives of various companies. The meetings provided information on the work done in the field of water supply in Azerbaijan, the Sarsang reservoir, water problems of refugees and IDPs.
The Dakar Declaration was adopted at the final meeting of the forum.
The World Water Council’s Board meeting discussed the Council's next 3-year Action Plan, final reports of the 8th World Water Forum, preparations for the 9th World Water Forum and hosting the 10th World Water Forum, as well as the admission of new members and other issues. The meeting approved Indonesia's hosting of the 10th World Water Forum.
Elchin Aliyev, Head of the Central Laboratory of “Azersu” OJSC was elected a new alternative member of the Management Board.
During the visit, representatives of “Azersu” OJSC met with the representatives of a number of countries and international organizations and discussed issues of cooperation. Views on the issues of mutual interest were exchanged within the meetings attended by the President of the World Water Council Loïc Fauchon, Executive Director of the International Water Resources Association Callum Clench, President of the Turkish Water Institute Ahmet Saatchi, officials of the UN Water Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, heads and representatives of a number of companies.
