Water supply systems of apartment buildings are being reconstructed in Yasamal district

To improve the supply of drinking water to the population “Azersu” OJSC continues to implement the project on reconstruction of water supply systems in apartment buildings in Yasamal district. At present, the neighborhood and indoor water supply systems of apartment buildings at Bakikhanov, Basti Baghirova and Murtuza Mukhtarov streets, Inshaatchilar Avenue, as well as Yeni Yasamal residential area 1 are being renovated. 

Water supply systems of 4 buildings in Yeni Yasamal 1 residential area of Yasamal district are being reconstructed within the Abad Mahalla project initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union. In those apartment buildings built during the Soviet period, internal water supply systems were installed in the pits. In some cases, water leaks and runoff occur because the uprights had been in use for a long time. This causes apartments and basements to be flooded. In addition, the existing lines do not allow residents to be provided with uninterrupted drinking water. The presence of meters inside the apartments sometimes makes it difficult to read them on time, which creates problems for proper record keeping.

According to the new project, 500 meters of water lines will be laid from the courtyards of the buildings and connected to the entrance lines of the buildings. This ensures that water is supplied directly to the buildings from the distribution lines and the pipes passing through the basements are eliminated. As part of the project, 310 houses will be connected and meters will be installed.

Neighborhood and indoor water supply systems of 9 apartment buildings located on Bakikhanov, Basti Bagirova, Murtuza Mukhtarov streets, as well as Inshaatchilar Avenue in Yasamal district are being reconstructed. The drinking water supply of these buildings was carried out on a scheduled basis through a local pumping station up to date. As part of the project, the local pumping station was reconstructed and new hydrophore-type pumps were installed. At the same time, 600-meter-long water lines have been laid in the neighborhoods and connected to indoor systems. In buildings, upright supports are removed to the stairwells and connected to the entrances of the apartments. The new system will provide residents with drinking water 24 hours a day in up to 350 apartments.

It should be noted that indoor water supply systems were transferred to the balance of “Azersu” OJSC since 2013 and in the past period, internal water supply systems of more than 6,000 apartment buildings in the Absheron Peninsula and regions were reconstructed at the expense of state investments.
