A new project is being implemented by “Azersu” OJSC to improve the water supply to the villages and settlements in Neftchala region that suffer from drinking water scarcity. The project implemented in accordance with the President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions covers 12 settlements (Mirza Gurbanli, Tatarmahla, Abbasali, Mirgurbanli, Hasanabad, Goltug, Uzunbabali, Kurgarabujag, Birinci Garali, Ikinci Garali, Gadimkend, Yukhari Garamanli villages) of Neftchala region with a population of 20,000 people.

So far, the drinking water supply of these villages has been provided by modular water treatment plants. Due to the declining water level and quality of the Kura River, it was not possible to supply these facilities with raw water during the warmer months of the year. The commissioning of the transmission main from the Shirvan-Mugan group water pipeline to Neftchala in November 2020 created opportunities for drinking water supply in some villages along with the district center.

Drinking water will be supplied to Uzunbabali, Mirzakurbanli, Tatarmahla and Abbasalili villages along the route of the transmission main. For this purpose, 3.8 km of water distribution lines are being built to the modular treatment plants in the villages. Work has already been completed in Uzunbabali village and water supply has been provided to the village.

To provide Kurgarabujag, Birinci Garali, Ikinci Garali, Gadimkend, Yukhari Garamanli villages of the region with drinking water, a 6 km section of 11 km long transmission main was built with 450 mm diameter polyethylene pipes.

Water supply of Mirgurbanli and Hasanabad villages of Neftchala region, as well as Goltug neighborhood will be provided by the network of Neftchala city.

In general, water supply for 20,000 people in 12 villages of Neftchala region will be improved within the projects. In order to increase the volume of drinking water supplied to the villages of Neftchala region in the future, it is planned to build a second main pipeline from Salyan to Neftchala. The pipeline will improve the drinking water supply of 8 more villages.

It should be noted that, in accordance with the President Ilham Aliyev’s special instructions, a 40 km long transmission main from the Shirvan-Mugan group water pipeline to Neftchala and a 7,500-cubic-meter reservoir near Salyan were built. In November 2020, water was supplied to Neftchala from the main pipeline.
