In accordance with the “Action Plan for 2020-2022 on ensuring efficient use of water resources” approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, to prevent water losses and waste, “Azersu” OJSC inspected water supply systems of individual houses and facilities in Surakhani district. As a result of investigations by special groups set up to detect cases of illegal use of water, cases of unregistered and off-meter use of drinking water have been revealed.

During the control measures carried out at Yeni Gunashli settlement of Surakhani region, AB settlement 80, facts of unregistered use of water at the slaughterhouse were revealed. It turned out that the owner of the facility, had laid a water line from 3 different points by getting connected to the population water line.

In Dada Gorgud settlement of the region, it was revealed that the farm and plantation area were irrigated by off-meter water line. During the inspection, it was found out that the entrepreneur illegally interfered with the nearby water pipeline without obtaining technical condition and concluding a contract. As soon as the fact was discovered, equipment was brought to the area and the water supply of the facility was immediately stopped. An act was drawn up documenting the illegal use of water and the damage was calculated.

In all cases, the illegal lines were removed, taking into account the damage caused by illegal use. At the same time, citizens and entrepreneurs were informed in detail about obtaining technical conditions for connection to drinking water networks and the rules of connection. It should be noted that unauthorized connection to water supply systems without taking into account the technical possibilities, along with waste and losses, violates the stability of drinking water supply in settlements and worsens the water supply of some subscribers.

Note that, 493 facts of illegal use of water were revealed in Surakhani region during 6 months of 2021 and 135,000 cubic meters of consumption was restored.
