Signing ceremony of the project agreements took place in the frame of “Water Supply and Sanitation Investment Project – 2”.
On June 6 a signing ceremony between “Azersu” OJSC and Asia Development Bank, as well as between Nakhchivan State Melioration and Water Economy Committee and Asia Development Bank was held following “Water Supply and Sewerage Investment Project – 2”. The documents were signed by the chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov, the chairman of Nakhchivan State Melioration and Water Economy Committee and the head of Asia Development Bank Olli Noroyono.
Evaluating the cooperation with Asia Development Bank in sphere of reconstruction of water supply and sewerage Supreme Majlis chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov stated that works of the first stage of the project were completed in Nakhchivan and emphasized that works on this project will be completed by the end of 2013 at executive of the loan allocated. He also drew attention that President Ilham Aliyev interested in the works on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems of Nakhchivan and gave relevant instructions during his recent visit to Autonomous Republic.
Olli Noroyono, head of Asia Development Bank in Azerbaijan expressed satisfaction with cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan and evaluated the implementation of projects carried out in Nakhchivan, Goychay and Agdash and noted that technical control on works is carried out. O.Noroyono recalled that the largest loan of Asia Development Bank allocated for water sector today. Allocating 375 mln USD to water economy sector Asia Development Bank plans to allocate additional 225 mln USD in the future.
In the frame of “Water Supply and Sewerage Investment Project – 2” Asia Development Bank allocates 300 mln USD on concessional terms. 130 mln USD is allocated to reconstruction works of water supply and sewerage systems in Nakhchivan and 170 mln USD will be used to water and sanitation sectors in Goychay, Agdash and Beylegan.
According to the project 55,7km long distributional water line, 50,9km long sewerage line will be laid covering 3339 house connections and water meters will be installed in these houses in Goychay. Works on the project are planned to be completed within 17 months. 2 Nos reservoirs with capacity of 2000m3 each will be constructed, 147km long water line will be laid covering 7626 house connections in Agdash. At the same time 121km long sewerage line will be laid and Water Treatment Plant with capacity of 10 000 m3/d will be constructed. In Beylegan 2 Nos reservoirs with capacity of 500m3 each will be constructed and 80km long water line will be laid covering 3363 house connections. 79km long sewerage line will be laid and Water Treatment Plant with capacity of 5000m3/d will be constructed for control of wastewater in the town.
“Water Supply and Sanitation Investment Project – 2” plans to improve water supply and sewerage systems of totally 500 thousand people in Agdash, Goychay, Agjabadi, Balakan, Beylagan and Nakhchivan.
