Inauguration ceremonies of reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Gusar and Khachmaz was held

   On April 19 inauguration ceremonies of reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Gusar and Khachmaz was held. In the ceremonies the chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Japan to the Azerbaijan Republic Shusuke Vatanabe, the delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency on visit to Azerbaijan, the heads of regional executive authorities took parts. Reconstruction work will be carried out in these cities following “Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage Project” that signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency. In the ceremony the chairman of “Azesru” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov said that works on the project as a part of State Program on Social and Economical Development of Regions approved by the President Ilham Aliyev will be completed by 2012 and consumers will be supplied on a continuing basis with high quality drinking water.

   Extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Japan to the Azerbaijan Republic Shusuke Vatanabe highly appreciated the cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan and noted that they will support social and infrastructure projects carried out in Azerbaijan.

   “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Gusar” plans to develop water supply and sanitation systems of totally 31453 people including 19618 people in Gusar, 11835 people in Balagusar, Hassangala, Old Khudat, Chilagir, Yukhari Layar, Gayakend, Chartepe, Orta Khuch, Ashagi Khucha and Khuray.

   According to the first stage of the project 700m long drainage water intake plant with capacity of 85l/s or 7360m3/day will be constructed in the river-bed of Gudyalchay, 17,8km long transmission main (DN=315mm) will be laid. 3Nos reservoirs with capacity of 1000m3 each will be built, 2,8km long a feeder water line will be laid between the reservoirs and a chlorination building including chlorination plant will be constructed.

   In the next phase of the project105km long water network will be constructed. 80km long sewerage line will be laid, a reservoir with capacity of 1000m3 will be constructed and more than 5700 people will be supplied with water meters.

   Wastewater will be transmitted to Water Treatment Plant with capacity of 40000m3/day that will be constructed in Khachmaz and here will be processed.

   “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Khachmaz” plans to develop water supply and sewerage systems of totally 57639 people including 46776 people in Khachmaz city, 10863 people in Gobugirakh, Armudapar, Garachi, Garagurdlu, Kohna Khachmaz villages.

   According to the first phase of the project Uchgun spring will be reconstructed and thus 200l/s or 17300m3/day water will be transmitted from this source. 2km long transmission main (DN=400mm) will be laid. 2 Nos reservoirs with capacity of 3000m3 each and 2Nos reservoirs with capacity of 2000m3 (totally 10000m3) will be built, 1,5km long feeder water line will be laid between the reservoirs, chlorination building including chlorination plant will be constructed.

    In the next phase of the project 165km long water line network and 154km long sewerage system network will be laid. More than 12000 consumers will be supplied with water meters. In accordance with the project 2 Nos water and 4Nos sewerage pumping stations are planned to be constructed in Khachmaz.

   Wastewater will be transmitted to Water Treatment Plant with capacity of 40000m3/day that will be constructed in Khachmaz and here will be processed. Wastewater of Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz will be transmitted to this wastewater treatment plan for processing.

   Note that, “Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage Project” that financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency is aimed at reconstruct water supply and sewerage systems in 10 towns and district centers (Salyan, Shirvan, Neftchala, Barda, Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Naftalan, Khizi, Gusar and Gobustan). Loan agreement was signed on May 29, 2009 between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency under Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage Project and according the agreement the side of Japan will allocate 32,8 billion Japan Yen ( about 400 US $ ) for works will be done in 10 towns and districts centers.
