Extra measures will be carried out to improve drinking water supply and sewerage systems

   On 28 February a conference on the results of the third year into the “State Program on the socioeconomic development of districts for 2009-2013”was held. Opening the conference President Ilham Aliyev said that socioeconomic measures were implemented successfully and government’s support has increased during 2011. Recalling the large infrastructure project carried out in the regions the Head of the state emphasized that works on the projects of reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems would be further accelerated. “Drinking water and sewerage system projects are being implemented. Here spoken about these projects. I want to reiterate that this is a very large, socially project which requires large funds. Baku and surrounding settlements, all towns and centers of districts must be supplied with drinking water and sewerage systems and steps in this direction are very encouraging. There are big targets in front of us. However I should say that these targets do not reflect the reality.

    Of course I would like these projects could complete as 2013. But probably, it will not be possible. Therefore, the real target is that drinking water and sewerage systems projects will have been completed in most towns and districts as the end of the next year. I do believe that we will achieve it 100%. Of course if we obtain extra financial resources first of all we should concentrate it to water supply and sewerage systems. In this case we can probably do our best. However presently drinking water supply and sewerage systems project or has been initiated or is going to be started in all region, in every district. At the same time - here said about this- installation of Modular Water Treatment Plants should be continued in the villages along rivers. According to the information I get presently such Plants have been installed in 188 villages. Due time people were drinking water from rivers, canals. Now over 300 thousand people drink treated water. Over 340thousand people have these capabilities in the rural areas. An instruction on additional measures for this and next years was given and we should supply all villages along the rivers with clear water”
