A memorial ceremony dedicated to “January 20 – National Mourning Day” was held by “Azersu” OJSC

         A memorial ceremony on the occasion of “January 20 – National Mourning Day” was held in “Azersu” OJSC. First January 20 martyrs were remembered with a minute of silence. Speaking at the ceremony the chairman of "Azersu" OJSC stated that Bloody January Tragedy is marked in the history as struggle of freedom, and territorial integrity of the people of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan people becoming enraged of aggressive actions of Armenia and adherence of USSR to Armenians since 1988 protested to ongoing processes in the streets and squares. Late at night on January 19, 1990 Soviet troops entered the capital and other cities of Azerbaijan and crushed the civilian population. As a result, 134 citizens were killed and more than 600 people injured: “Heydar Aliyev being with his people in such tragic day demonstrated courageous position. Great leader Aliyev exposed hostile policy of administration of empire headed by Mikhail Gorbachev in his speech in front of foreign journalists on January 21, 1990.”

         The Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC drew special attention to political and legal assessment of National leader Heydar Aliyev.

         Taking part in the ceremony martyr family member and head energetic of “Azersu” OJSC Vilayet Ibadov and being witness of the battles for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, head of Division Avaz Nabiyev and other hundreds of people who fight for independence of Azerbaijan noted that selflessness of our January martyrs is heroic example for future generation.
