A new line is laid for protection of wastewater flowing from Novkhani settlement into the Caspian Sea
Comprehensive Action is being continued for improving sewerage system of the settlements and better protection of the ecology of the Caspian Sea by “Azersu” OJSC. A new project is undertaken for preventing wastewater flowing into the Caspian Sea in the area from Novkhani settlement to the Sumgayit city. In accordance with this project begun to implement in the second half of 2011 in this area wastewater that flows into the sea will be transmitted to the new Wastewater Treatment Plants that will be constructed in the south of Sumgayit city. With this purpose GRP pipelines DN1000mm and polyethylene pipes with total length of over 6km were laid along the sea coast. In addition 3Nos pressure pumping station will be built along the route for transmission of retained wastewater to Wastewater Treatment Plant. Construction of Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant with a capacity of 100thousand m3/d will be commenced early in 2012.
It should be noted after completion of the project the discharge of wastewater of recreation centers as well as Novkhani settlement and all cottages flowing directly into the sea will be prevented.
