Water supply and sewerage system of Ujar under reconstruction
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has attended the inauguration ceremony of Water supply and Sewerage system of Ujar.
The President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the centralized water supply system in Ujar was built in the 1970s by the Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC . As a source subartesian well drilled in the Potu village of Goychay District and irrigation canals are used. According to the new project Kulullu in Agsu District was selected as water source. Construction of a drainage intake facility in Kulullu and laying D400 mm and 60 km transmission main by gravity from here to Ujar are planned. Under the project 15 villages located along the transmission main also will be supplied with water. It was mentioned that a new 108 km long water distributor network and a new reservoir with a capacity of 2 thousand m3 are to be built. According to the project a 90 km long sewerage network will be laid and 15 Nos sewerage pumping stations will be constructed in Ujar. A modern Wastewater Treatment Plant with a capacity of 4000 m3/day will be constructed for treatment of wastewater.
As a result of the project and considering the long-term development plan covering the period as of 2035, water supply and sanitation systems of 20,000 people in Ujar and 32,000 people in 15 villages will be considerably improved. “The project of reconstruction of water supply and sewage systems in Ujar”, to be funded from the state budget, is due to be completed within 20 months.
