Grant Agreement was signed between the governments of Azerbaijan and Korea

  A grant agreement on “A Total Solution of Water Shortage for Absheron Peninsula:  Establishment of Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kurdakhany settlement in the Absheron Peninsula” on October 14 between “Azersu” OJSC and Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The agreement was signed by “Azersu” OJSC on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan and ambassador Lee Ji on behalf of the Government of Korean.

The Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov stated that “2011-2013 State Program of Socio-economic Development of Baku and its settlements” was approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the purpose of providing improvement of Baku and its surrounding settlements, improvement of social living conditions of population, elimination of existing problem. In accordance with this Program “Azersu” OJSC and Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) obtained an agreement on Totally Solution Project for reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in Kurdakhani settlement of Absheron Peninsula. The Government of Korean will allocate a grand in amount of 26,18 mln USD for financing the project. The remaining costs of the project will be provided by the Government of Azerbaijan in additional in the form of additional financing. Reconstruction of Water Supply and Sewerage Project of Kurdakhani will be carried out between 2011 and 2013. 2 Nos reservoirs, pumping station will be constructed and 24,8 km long water and 24,8km long sewerage lines with different diameter will be laid  at the expense of the grand allocated by the Government of Korean. At the same time participation of local experts in training program is intended in South Korean.

         Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Lee Ji Ha noted that social living condition of population, environmental situation of Absheron Peninsula will be improved as a result of reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems. Mr. Ambassador emphasized the importance of the agreement in development of bilateral cooperation between two countries
