Inauguration ceremony took place on October 11 in accordance with the project of reconstruction of water supply and sewerage system in Bilasuvar and Lankaran. The chairman of ‘Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov and heads of Executive Authority participated in the ceremonies. G. Huseynov stated that reconstruction works in each region were carried out at the expense of the state budget and works on the project being a part of “State Program of Social-economic Development of the Regions” approved by the President Ilham Aliyev will be completed till the beginning of 2013 and consumers will be supplied on a continuing basis with high quality water.
Considering population growth as of 2035 “Reconstruction project of water supply and sanitation systems of Bilasuvar” is estimated from 19500 up to 23000  people. In accordance with the project a reservoir V=7500 m3 and pumping station will be built for the purpose of supplying population with sustainable drinking water. Totally120 km long water distributor network with different diameter and 82 km long sewerage network will be constructed and sewerage pumping station will be built in the city. Wastewater of the city will be treated in the treatment plant with a capacity of 10 thousand m3 to be built at the edge of the city. Construction works are intended to be completed during 20 months.
It should be noted that Bilasuvar is supplied with drinking water of Azizbayov canal separated from Araz river. Presently the length of the water network is 52 km and there is no sewerage system. “Azersu” OJSC serves about 60 % of the residents of the city, and the rest takes water on an individual basis from canal.
“Reconstruction project of water supply and sanitation systems of Lankaran” is estimated from 50000 up to 61000 people considering population growth as of 2035 . An ultra filtration treatment plant with a capacity of 30 thousand m3 will be constructed on the base of modern technology for the purpose of supplying the population with standard water.   (Practiced through the world automatic control and cost-effective ultra filtration facilities are used for the purpose of treatment of less turbid water. In contrast traditional sand filtration, these type filtrations keeps all the particles with size of 0,01 micron and all harmful bacteria in the composition of water. Thus keeping the natural mineral composition of water this facility provides the treatment and eliminating unpleasant odor and taste of the water. Water going through out the ultra filtration is useful for drinking and there is no need to use chlorine during neutralization process.) Khanbulan reservoir is chosen as a source.
In the frame of the project a reservoir V=15 thousand m3, pumping station, totally 200 km long water distributor of combined diameter range will be constructed for supplying the city with sustainable water. 180 km long sewerage network, 8 Nos sewerage pumping stations are planned to construct for collecting of wastewater. Wastewater will be transmitted to the Wastewater Treatment Plant with a capacity of 25 thousand m3 and here will be treated.
According to the project Khanbulan, Burjali, Garmatuk, Sutamurdov, Ashagi Nugadi, Shilavar, and Digah will be supplied with potable water by a transmission main from Khanbulan to Lankaran will supply. Construction works on the project will be completed within 22 months.
